Geek News You Should Know: 5/29/14

I am proud to say that this little website of mine has crossed 10,000 page views and just want to thank everyone for checking out. Hopefully you enjoy coming here and checking out the stuff I've been writing. And on that note, how about some geek news?

1) It seems like every time I push the publish button on article recently, the days biggest news story breaks and then I have to cover it in the next days news. Last night it broke that Hulu might have some interest in bringing Community over to it's platform for a sixth season. Hulu has wanted to expand it's original television programming and much like Netflix did with Arrested Development, this would be a great way to make an impact on that landscape. Dan Harmon sounded like he was done with the show but hopefully a deal can be worked out as more Community would be a fantastic thing.

2) In reboot news, it was announced that they are planning a remake of the 1993 Sylvester Stallone mountain climbing movie Cliffhanger.  Also, Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin, who are currently working on the Independence Day sequels which they are saying will shoot back-to-back, are also planning to reboot the franchise that started their careers Stargate.  While Stargate only had one money, it spawned multiple TV series, no word on if anything previous will be considered canon but many think this will be a clean refresh of the Stargate-verse.

3) James Cameron is teaming up with Cirque Du Soleil to bring a Live Avator tour that will debut in late 2015 which means it'll start before the three Avatar sequels are released in theaters.  Sounds like an interesting and unique way to experience Avatar if you are a fan of the movie and/or Cirque Du Soleil.

4) A trailer was released for the movie What If, which is a romantic comedy starring Daniel Radcliffe and Ruby Sparks' Zoe Kazan, who are a couple that are basically perfect for each other, except for the fact she already has a boyfriend.  While, it's looks a little stereotypical romantic comedy I'm all in.  Check out the trailer below.

5) In probably the strangest news in a while, Marilyn Manson will be appearing in the final season of Sons of Anarchy this fall in a recurring role as prison-yard white supremacist. I'm sure he'll be fine on the show, just seems a little out of left field for the casting considering he doesn't have a lot of acting experience.
